In Memoriam: Tim Tingblad (1966-2026)
Brother of current Gnawbone manager Tom, former Groundout Tim Tingblad died on Friday, July 31 after a long battle with brain cancer. Many of you will remember Tim as manager and founder of the Olympia Orioles, where he managed for six seasons from 2007-2012. As part of PGB's first expansion, he led the Orioles to two playoff appearances and greatly enjoyed his years in the league before retiring. Despite his serious health issues, he called his diagnosis "the best thing that ever happened to him" as he used his final years leaning deeper into his Christian faith and drawing strength and support from those around him. Our sincerest condolences to Sparky and the entire Tingblad family.
Sparky--I recall sitting with you and Tim at a game in the early 2000s when Johan Santana struck out 15 batters. Always fun to talk with Tim!
Very sad news. Tim was a great guy, humble, friendly, a real gentleman. Condolences to Sparky and family. I lost a brother to cancer 20 years ago and it is not easy. You don't move on, you move forward, always remembering your loved one. Praying for you and your family, Tom.
